Okay, this is just to get things started for now - before i find a permanent blog home...and i'm trying to figure out how to post video here...ideas?
So, i don't have all the pics i'd like here, or videos, but at least i can update things...thanks for your patience! Oh, i do have a couple videos on facebook, if you're into that!

Ahhh, well, it has been a LONG time (as Tom reminded me in the email i got from him this morning), but hey, i suppose if not updating my blog means i get emails from people i love, that’s cool!
So, how to pack the last couple months into this little blog - a challenging task, let me tell ya!
Well, where to begin - how about a little taste of our first project at school?
So, our assignment, should we choose to accept it (well, we didn’t really have a CHOICE, per se - i mean, we are paying for this course, aren’t we?) was to select an action movie, and in groups of 6-7, perform our version of that movie on a platform that was about 3 feet wide and 6 feet long. YAHOO!
So, my group chose Kill Bill (which was my suggestion - not that THAT matters, but hey, it’s a great suggestion!), and we had 2 weeks to devise (that’s our fancy lecoq word for create), our piece.
The bummer is that i missed a good chunk of the first devising week because i had to go back to Portland for my grandma’s funeral (more on that later), so i didn’t get to be Uma Thurman, which was a BUMMER, but when i got back, i did have a lot of fun helping to create the other bits - so here it is! (a GREAT example of the crazy shit we do!
Other recent highlights:
So, the last couple months in a nutshell:
My Temp Job:
Temped in “the city” - which is the business district here, for some sort of fund investment firm working with the Transaction and Capital Projects team - who invest in infrastructure or something like that. We were in a part of the office that required a secret code to get into, and all their projects had code names like “Project Wombat” and “Project Planet” (there was also a “Project Cat” and i had to give the guy who made that one up a bad time because, well, come ON - Project CAT? can’t you come up with something better than that?
The guys i worked with were very nice - a couple australians, a scot, a canadian and a french guy. They kept trying to convince me to skip grad school and stay and be there PA...hmm...tempting, guys. And the other hilarious thing is that i was only there for about a month, and i was a temp, and they had me help interview for their new, permanent PA - awesome!
The other highlight of this little stint is that I cycled to work most days, which is about a 20 minute ride from my house, and let me tell ya - cycling in the city just makes you feel very bad-ass. It also made me develop acute passenger rage on the days it was too rainy to cycle and i had to take the bus. Grrr...
Summer Romance:
Can’t really talk about this, as the Sam found my blog, and while he probably doesn’t read it, it just doesn’t seem right to write about that here...Ahhh...yeah.
MY Dad!
My dad came to visit, which was awesome! He was here for about 4 days, we spent some lovely time wandering the city and had lots of great father/daughter bonding and he got to meet some of my friends, and that was just fantastic!
I finally got to see Pink Martini in concert last weekend which was FANTASTIC! Though it was at a venue that had assigned seating, so there was very little dancing, and that was a bit of a bummer, but what a great show! And a lovely taste of Portland!
CABARET
We performed our cabaret again, which was fantastic! At an old music hall called “Hoxton Hall.” We had a great time and a great turn out, and I had a lot of friends there, which was really amazing. It felt so good to perform in front of an audience, and to come out after performing and have people there who came just to see me! YAY! Take a look at our Victorian Tea Party gone wild. Mmm...delish!
So, the weekend of the cabaret my friend Jesse got into town and we spent a week collaborating together, which was really fantastic. We went to Pomona together, and haven’t collaborated since then. We have the beginnings of some really great work and also that realization that - wow, yeah, so the next step is to get some funding and do this shit - yikes! How do you DO that?
AND UP NEXT
So, the week after the cabaret Sam decided he just wanted to be friends, a few days later my grandma passed away, then school started, and then i flew home for a weekend.
It’s been a crazy time. I had a fantastic trip home - it was really good to be with my family, and lovely to see friends! I was pretty down when i got back to London, grieving is a tricky process, particularly being away from home - feels very unreal sometimes, but this week I’m finally feeling much better, so that’s good.
And i have to say, school is better than ever. It’s super intense - more work and creating than last year, but I am feeling really amazing about the work I’m doing, and feel like I’m doing some of the best performing I’ve ever done, and that feels great. (Oh yeah, and i went on a nice little date this weekend, and that was great too!)
So, that’s about it, really...for now.
I could say much more, but then this blog entry would be rather epic...and hopefully I’ll just get better about updating it from now on!
I love you all!
